The Beach Erosion Authority for Clean Oceans & Nourishment (BEACON) is a joint powers agency tasked with reporting on sand & marine debris migration and accumulation along Ca. coastlines, and seeking out the best science available to assist local, regional, State and Federal agencies & the military Corp. of Engineers in the best practices for preparing for anticipated sea level rise & severe weather events, including advocating for policies to either armor certain areas of the coast (against coastal flooding) or to conduct ‘managed retreat’ of structures & infrastructure inland, and to be able to assist coastal property owners on the best practices for either reinforcing with natural materials and/or armoring their properties v. elevating or re-location.

An important collaboration between BEACON, the Ca. Coastal Commission, The Coastal Conservancy & the County of Ventura Resource Management Agency has produced this in-depth presentation entitled VC Resilient Coastal Adaptation Project.
